Just in case – easy sewing project

I am NOT a big sewer, But After getting a brand new Sewing machine from my husband for my birthday, I figured i should start increasing my skills.. this is why decided to make myself my own crochet case with it. I figured it shouldn’t be that hard and I can make myself a nice case, while practice on my sewing skills. I already have one , a really old and very very big one that contains all my needles, but they can’t continue to take all of my Crochet hooks everywhere. I figured this way I can take some of them, and try not to lose all of them at once :-).

If you want to do a quick and fun product, and you are a beginner like me then this is the project for you.

I use cotton fabric which is very easy to work with, because it’s not stretching too much.

start to cut your fabric you will need two pieces of 14 inch x 8 inch

2fabric

and one piece of 14 inch by 9 inch what you will have to fold in 2.

folded

After you cut and iron your fabric (ironing is a very important part of sewing I have learned that the hard way) measure with a ruler one-inch spaces and mark it on your fabric. It’s much easier to do if your fabric doesn’t have any pattern on it like this one

marks2

pin your fabrics together so it will not move, like this

and start sewing straight lines precisely on your markings.

Pay attention. You now working on the right side of the lower fabric

when you’re done put the right sides of your fabric together and start sewing them together.

2 wrong sides

you will need to put your elasic strap before this stage as well.. i forgot it twice.. wasn’t fun to unravel everything.. you just fold it in half and place it on one of the sides from the inside, loop facing the inside of the fabric.

my cool new machine have an overcast stitch, so i tried it out in this one:

2 sides sawn

the lower left side of the case is not sewed so you can stuck your hand there and flip it to the right side after you are done sewing the sides

backwords

after flipping it over, sew the opening in a hidden stitch, and that’s it!

pencil case ready

as i mentioned i am not a great sewer, but i think i have learned a lot from this simple project. these can make great gifts or for your own personal use (for my crochet hooks for example). also i have made a few so you can contact me if you want one!

hope you enjoyed your visit, son’t forget to check out things in my store!
