When we moved to the US, we discovered a new marvel.. garage sales! People that are from here will not understand the excitement we have from it.
Apparently here in the US it is very common to buy stuff, leave them in a pretty good shape, and after a while sell their stock.. (and then renew it of course).
Me and my husband like to go to these sales cause you can never know what you can find there.. I have a friend that said: “someone’s garbage is someone else’s treasure”..( tnx Roniti!!) So in this case this sentence works very very well…
So why am I telling y’all about that…
Of course that one can always find some yarn leftovers from these sales , which is always nice, but in one of the sales I have found this amazing antique sewing machine:
it’s an original Domestic rotary 153 series machine, which means it is very antique and looks amazing, and the most fun part is that it works!
I asked my carpenter husband to build a table for it, so we found a used table in another marvoulos place called Goodwill,
he made a hole in it, and placed my machine inside. After some thinking we added an extension to it:
that folds!
and of course, i had to color it…
so now it is pink (with glitters) !!
The machine is fitting nicely on my Yarn room.. yes i have that now..
In order to try it on I bought some fun pink and purple fabrics,
and made a little bag I learned to do once in High school..
very simple.. 9 squares in each side, and adding the middle strip to make it a bag. I used this lovely YouTube movie from the green bag lady bag to add it all up…

and that’s it..
Now I have another hobby… all I need is to find more time in the day for it.. or sleep less……
’till the next time..
